Southern Ports was established on 1 October 2014 following the merger of Albany Port Authority, Bunbury Port Authority and Esperance Port Authority as governed by the enabling legislation the Port Authorities Act 1999 WA. Southern Ports operates as a Western Australian Government Trading Enterprise whose sole shareholder is the Western Australian State Government. The principle role of Southern Ports is to facilitate trade through the commercial management of efficient, sustainable, safe and customer-focused ports, and to return a dividend to the Government of Western Australia. A diverse range of commodities is traded through the ports of Albany, Bunbury and Esperance along the southern and south-west coast of Western Australia. Southern Ports has four office locations based in Albany, Bunbury, Esperance and Perth.
