Soak up a hundred years of history on board our vintage dining train or thrill to the sights and sounds of steam power in the Darling Ranges! STEAM RANGER services are steam hauled and operate during the cooler and wetter months of the year, generally from May to October inclusive. RESTAURANT and FOREST TRAIN services are diesel hauled, and operate all year round on operating days. It's been said that the Steam Locomotive is the closest thing to a living creature that mankind has ever devised, and when you witness Hotham Valley's STEAM RANGER service clawing it's way up some of Australia's toughest railway inclines you'll find this emotional sentiment easy to understand: it's a breathtaking spectacle nothing short of thrilling. When you match this thrill with the ever-changing scenic splendour of Western Australia's Darling Escarpment - from grassy fields to wild-flower covered hillsides - you'll have all the right ingredients for an unforgettable experience. Alternatively our RESTAURANT TRAIN - the Etmilyn Forest Diner - provides a unique 5-course dining experience as the train (with it's 1919 vintage dining car and 1884-built Club Car) meanders through the night-time forest, softly illuminated from the train. The DWELLINGUP FOREST TRAIN gives you the chance to get to grips with the same section of forest in the daylight - with an insightful commentary detailing the history of the state's last surviving pioneering railway and a thirty minute stop-over at Etmilyn siding.
